Department 56 Snow Village, Christmas Miniature Villages, and Halloween Village Displays

Creative Christmas decorating using the miniature Christmas Village collection.

A miniature Christmas Village makes a charming and delightful centerpiece for your Christmas decor, and a lovely conversation starter for your holiday guests.

There are lots of miniature Christmas Villages to choose from, featuring exquisitely crafted buildings, and delightful figurines doing all kinds of Christmassy things, like singing carols, shopping for presents, skiing, and playing in the snow. Department 56, Lemax and Hawthorne Village have a wide range of miniature village designs for all seasons.

You can use your Christmas Village as a centerpiece for your Christmas table, or you can incorporate it into a charming display, either on a tabletop, bookshelf or windowsill.

To create a Christmas Village display, you really only need a little imagination and creative flair, but following these simple steps will get you started.

Four steps to creating a Christmas Village display.

1. Begin with a single miniature village, or a collection of two or three. Arrange them in a visually interesting way, by placing them at different angles and on a variety of levels. You could use a piece of styrofoam to set your Christmas Villages on different levels, or accessories such as the Department 56 snowy platform.

2. You could add a village backdrop, either showing a daytime or night sky. These are easy to make using stiff cardboard and spray paint, perhaps adding some sparkly silver stars for a wintry night sky.

3. Add accessories such as pine trees, figurines, and acrylic ice and snow for a wintry Christmas feel.

3. Complete your Christmas display with decorations, tree trimmings, and strings of Christmas lights. You could even add Christmas candies, gingerbread and fruit.
